A Whirlwind Adventure

Dear Gorgeous Readers,

As I write to you, I am sitting on a train racing through the English countryside on my way to Salisbury. I’m due to be meeting my cousin for lunch before heading to Bournemouth, where I’ll spend the next three days with my family before flying back home to the States. It’s all go!

My trips always seem to be a bit of a whirlwind to be honest – and I think that’s the way I like it. I landed in London last Thursday, spent some time with a few dear friends, and then flew to Sweden the next day for two days of teaching. This was my second clinic in Sweden, and I have to say I absolutely loved it. Having previously lived in Denmark, there is a certain familiarity with being back in a Scandinavian country that I really treasure.

Connections Across the Globe

You might assume that my teaching in Sweden stems from my time in Denmark, but, dear reader, no! It actually comes from my time living in the sunny South American country of Uruguay, as strange as that may sound. By way of explanation, a friend of mine had a beautiful vineyard and home there, which she and her family eventually sold before moving back to Sweden. She also trained with me, and so now, when I visit England to see family, I can pop over to Sweden to teach her …and others too, into the bargain. I love the intricate tapestry of life and the connections we make when we embrace the opportunities before us. I very much try to live my life that way, always being open to new directions and possibilities.

Exciting News!

In other news, I am thrilled to share that the golf ball-whacking first date I went on has become official. Yes, Drew is now my boyfriend, which I am delighted about. Apart from being devilishly handsome, he makes me laugh, which I feel is so important and only adds to my happiness. We have even planned our first little holiday together… I won’t reveal the destination just yet, but let’s just say a magical castle may be involved! (I fear that’s given it away …not as subtle as I’d hoped, haha!)

Back in the Saddle

I will soon be back in the saddle with my two (yes, two!) new horses, as Terry’s four-year-old stallion, Vinny, has now joined Manny and I, and we’re both delighted about it. (I haven’t asked Manny, but I assume he’s as delighted as I am). I am incredibly excited about the progress Manny is making. Soon, I will begin his piaffe and passage training, and I have a feeling he will have quite a talent for both. Watch this space.

A Thought for Your Riding

Something to keep in mind when riding your horse: as Hasse (Hoffmann) wisely says, it is important to remember that the horse should not be allowed to get tired …because a tired horse cannot learn.

Stay safe and happy riding!

Until next time.
xx
