Shaun is a Grand Prix Dressage Rider and British Dressage Coach based in Sailsbury.

Shaun was brought up on a fruit farm in the Western Cape of South Africa. He started riding at a young age when he found his love for horses at the local riding school owned and run by an inspirational lady, Hilary Pelser.

As a teenager Shaun spent much of his time helping youngsters with physical and learning difficulties to gain life skills through horses. His empathy for people and understanding of horses is the foundation from which his career continues to grow.

Shaun arrived in the UK from his native South Africa in 2002. His drive and determination began in eventing.

He has had the privilege of working with some very experienced riders, starting with the Grand Slam winner Pippa Funnell. He then went on to work with rider, breeder, selector and Judge, Jane Holderness-Roddam MBE, and also Jenni Loriston Clarke MBE, gaining valuable knowledge and experience from the highest level. Shaun has gained this experience not just by working with some well-known coaches, but also by producing his own horse from elementary to Grand Prix. With many years of experience, including having spent 18 months in Denmark under the watchful eye of arguably one of the World’s foremost Dressage trainers, Hasse Hoffmann, Shaun is available throughout the UK to Coach you and your horse. Clinics abroad can be arranged.

Shaun’s patient, kind and consistent approach has helped him with backing youngsters and rehabilitating horses from different backgrounds. This extensive experience has equally informed his horsemanship, harnessed his competitive spirit and given him the ability to get the best out of a horse, whether it is for competition or simply educating at home.
